This Alternative-Rock band was formed in 1996 in Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, by singer+guitarist Chad Kroeger, his brother Mike Kroeger on bass, guitarist Ryan Peake and Kroegers' cousin Brandon on drums.That same year they recorded an independent EP which was followed by the release of their debut full-lenght album titled "Curb", it received some airplay on Canadian radio stations.
After almost four years, Nickelback, re-emerged with a new drummer, Ryan Vikedal, with major deals: EMI Canada and Roadrunner Records in the U.S. who released their second album, "The State"; both the first two singles, "Breathe" and "Leader Of Men", crashed into the top 10 of Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, propelling the CD to #130 in U.S. Top 200 Albums chart; one more single cut, "Old Enough", made top 30 on Mainstream Rock chart
